Cosmetics
I created RAW soap as I’m a bit of a digger, if I hear something about products, I look into these claims and investigate if what I’ve heard is true. Unfortunately, I usually discover some pretty horrendous but widely used practices, as well as unbelievable cost cutting. Soap is no different.
Traditional, mass produced and even artisan soaps are often filled with harsh chemicals (SLS, phosphates, and parabens) which can cause skin irritation, disrupt hormones, and trigger allergic reactions. All to bulk up the product, allow things to be stored for longer, make it smell nice, and save a few more pence to pay for the shareholders next pointless extravagance.
Now… I don’t really want those products on me… and I don’t want to give my money to people that don’t care about me.

-
I’ve chosen natural, so I get the benefits from the ingredients I use.
-
I’ve chosen ethical, so I know that people in the chain are likely treated fairly.
-
I’ve chosen environmental, so being clean doesn’t mean poisoning rivers and destroying rainforests.
-

This means:
-
My ingredients are expensive to source.
-
They don’t have a polished finish (as I make them by hand).
-
They may ‘seem’ greasy (soap is mainly made from oil, the greasiness is usually the result of good oils and butters which get absorbed by your skin!)

I get we’re in a cost of living crisis but buying local and considerately is important to me. I don’t buy much, but I always try to buy when I know the people in charge aren’t money driven.
